Leading the Employee Communication Revolution

Leading the Employee Communication Revolution

Two worlds live inside corporations today.

At one end of the spectrum you have workers who are almost entirely disconnected from their organizations. They represent the estimated 80 percent of the global workforce who aren’t sitting at computers all day. They have a challenge knowing what’s happening at their company. They feel left out.

Then there is the other 20 percent of employees who are connected. In fact, they’re too connected. They’re facing massive information overload with messages on the intranet, email, collaboration tools. They feel overwhelmed.

So, you have two sets of employees with the same communication problem but for entirely different reasons. None of them are getting the information they need to do their jobs better.

The way people receive and share news has undergone a radical shift. We no longer go looking for information. We expect it to come to us. It’s time for a revolution in employee communication. Dynamic Signal is leading it.

We announced some exciting news this week. We’ve raised $36.5 million from a powerhouse group of investors including Microsoft Ventures, Cisco Investments and Adams Street Partners. Their support validates that we’re changing how global organizations reach their most valued assets – their people.

We’re proud to now count more than 20 percent of the Fortune 100 among our hundreds of customers. We’re defining this new category – Employee Communication and Engagement Platforms. The new funding is being invested into improving our platform through expanded functionality and deeper integrations with other enterprise systems, opening more offices around the world, and doubling our number of employees in 2018.

This is an age of information inequity between the disconnected and hyper-connected worker. There’s no reason there should be different information experiences – or that they should be so ineffective for either group.

We solve the communication problem for all workers.

There are plenty of tools that claim to distribute content to the workforce. Yet more workers than ever say they feel disengaged. Just 33 percent of U.S. employees are enthusiastic and committed to their work, according to a Gallup study in 2017. Poor communication is a big part of the reason.

Dynamic Signal is unique because we streamline the cacophony of noise in all of those existing channels into one modern platform that delivers personalized content directly to employees in the manner they prefer.

For most of us, that means on our mobile devices.

Office workers who previously tuned out the relentless stream of email and collaboration messages now receive information relevant to their role, function, location and more through smartphone push notifications and alerts. Employees on factory floors or in retail, who once got company news through breakroom posters and newsletters, also can now get information on their mobile devices.

Our solution gives all employees what they need to be their best and feel more connected to the larger purpose of their organizations.

Important content no longer will be ignored on the intranet. Instead, information like HR benefits, scheduling, payroll, competitive intelligence, training and emergency announcements is delivered to employees. They also can receive videos from the CEO and content that builds strong culture within an organization. Employees also can share links, images and videos of their teams living the values and executing the strategy of the company with their social networks – extending the reach of the brand.

Dynamic Signal does all of this in a way that is measurable. Organizations can measure and improve the effectiveness of their messaging and whether it drove action on the part of employees.

Bad things usually happen when there is poor communication. But amazing things are possible when communication is strong. For instance, McKinsey found that productivity improves by 20 to 25 percent in organizations with connected employees.

Our goal is to be the primary method for companies to keep their employees informed so they’re happy and successful. And we know that leads to superior customer experience and better financial performance.

We have a laser focus on making what already is the best Employee Communication and Engagement Platform even better. We’re the leader in this space. With the support our new investors, partners and customers, we intend to continue to lead the way.
