The BioAPI Consortium is a group of over 120 organizations that have a common interest in promoting the growth of the biometrics market through standardization. The Consortium has developed a specification for a standardized Application Programming Interface (API) that is compatible with a wide range of biometric applications programs and a broad spectrum of biometrics technologies. The BioAPI Specification was approved as an ANSI standard in 2002 and an ISO standard in 2006. The organization now focuses on promoting its adoption and disseminating information and resources.
