Vicki Grant

Vicki Grant is Vice President of the Southern Institute on Children and Families. She is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt by the George Group. Dr. Grant has more than 30 years of experience in policy research and analysis. During the past decade she has become a national expert on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of public benefit programs through process improvement.

Dr. Grant has held leadership positions in three national programs supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and directed by the Southern Institute. She served as National Program Director for the Foundation’s Supporting Families After Welfare Reform initiative and Deputy Director for Policy/Research for the Foundation’s Covering Kids and Covering Kids & Families initiatives.

Prior to joining the Southern Institute, Dr. Grant served on former South Carolina Governor Richard W. Riley’s health and human services staff as Deputy Director for Budget, Policy Analysis and Special Projects. Dr. Grant was awarded a Pew Doctoral Fellowship in Health Policy by the Florence Heller Graduate School at Brandeis University, and she earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Health and Social Policy. Dr. Grant also holds a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of South Carolina.
