This workshop will prepare you for the rest of the conference by providing fundamentals of biometrics, biometric modalities, devices and scanners, concepts and terminology. It will demystify enrolment, authentication, verification, and identification. Additionally, you will be presented with a comparison of capabilities, advantages, disadvantages, and vulnerabilities of various biometric systems.
This pre-conference workshop is a comprehensive tutorial that will give you the fundamentals necessary to understand the real issues involved in deploying biometrics, including:

WORKSHOP LEADER: Ms. Roanne Levitt, is the Founder and CEO of Perceive Solutions Inc., a company specializing in text-independent voice biometrics. Prior to Perceive Solutions, Roanne held several senior positions at leading technology companies including Softimage/Microsoft and Engenuity Technologies Inc (formerly TSX:EGY). As VP of Research and Development for Engenuity, her vision, strategy and execution were instrumental, leading to the corporation’s acquisition by Canadian simulation leader CAE Inc. Under her leadership, Roanne and her team earned several awards including the prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2006 Product Innovation of the Year Award. Ms. Levitt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Mathematics from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Concordia University.
