Tamára L. Box (Tami) Box

Dr. Tamara (Tami) Box is a clinical scientist and health informaticist with the VA Office of Informatics and Analytics and the Health IT Lead for the VA Clinical Assessment, Reporting, and Tracking Program (CART), the national clinical quality program for VA cardiology. She is also National Project Manager for the Patient Care Assessment System (PCAS), a joint effort between VA Primary Care Patient-Aligned Care Teams (PACT) and the Office of Analytics and Business Intelligence, one of the branches of OIA.

Tami holds a PhD in Clinical Sciences, Health Information Technology.  She is a member of several professional health IT and informatics organizations, including HIMSS.

Tami began her VA career 17 years ago with the National Center for Health Promotion and Health Services Research and Development in Durham, North Carolina. After moving to Denver in 2001, she became the Associate IT Director for the National Cardiovascular Care Improvement Program and Continuous Improvement in Cardiac Surgery Program, before joining the CART Program in 2005. Tami has worked cross-collaboratively with three of Secretary Shinseki’s Major Initiatives: Health Care Efficiencies, New Models of Care, and the Health Informatics Initiative. Her experience in these positions provides Tami with a broad perspective on VA data sources and clinical programs.

Tami lives in Denver, Colorado and is the past Board Chair for the Colorado American Diabetes Association. She has received a National Service Award for her work with the American Diabetes Association.
