Ross Cavanaugh

Ross Cavanaugh is a Digital Media Consultant and Vice President in the Enterprise Social Media group within the Enterprise Marketing division at Wells Fargo. With a functional title of Internal Collaboration Leader, Ross is responsible for the creation, launch, and facilitation of internal social & collaboration platforms, tools and functionality across Wells Fargo.

Ross developed and manages Wells Fargo’s Networks & Communities portal in SharePoint, providing fully provisioned websites to groups of all types across the company. He maintains volunteer roles for many of those groups, currently serving with the Diverse Abilities Team Member Network, the Project Management Community of Practice, and the Innovators Club (among others).

Ross started with the company with what was then First Union National Bank in 1995, where he served as a sales representative in the company’s call center for account origination. In that role, Ross was responsible for new accounts and associated customer relationships for every retail product available at the time. He originated loans of all types, including mortgages, and also earned his Series 6 & 63 licenses to sell mutual funds and other investments to customers.

Ross served as the primary contact for the establishment of account generation functionality through www.firstunion.com. In 1998, Ross served as the Senior Leader for the Emerging Business Markets department, managing a staff of approximately 75 people across three teams: First Research (an out-bound call center), Direct Deposit Services, and the Niagara HR Call Center. His interest in technology brought about a career change, and Ross accepted an IT Program Manager position in 2000. Ross led multiple corporate-wide initiatives, including the recreation of the company’s intranet in association with the Wachovia merger as well as the acquisition and launch of SharePoint at Wachovia.

Ross has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing as well as a Masters in Communication Arts, both from Marshall University.
