Paris Barker

Paris Barker has built a career around employees, from her early days in various Human Resources disciplines to more recent years in employee communications. In communications, Paris has worked alongside top executives at large, global technology and healthcare organizations to ensure not only that messages are received through more traditional channels, but that employees’ voices are heard through the use of new communication technologies. Fascinated by the intersection of technology and internal communications, and inspired by a progressive workplace, Paris authored the publication “How Social Media is Transforming Employee Communications at Sun Microsystems” for the journal Global Business and Organizational Excellence. She has led global, cross-functional teams to deploy new intranets at two different companies in recent years, experience that has informed her talk for Strategic Internal Communications in Boston.

Paris is currently head of internal communications for Novartis Vaccines and holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Connecticut, where basketball is everything. She lives in Somerville, Massachusetts and is a proud mom of two mischievous young children. In her spare time, she loves going to rock concerts.
