Jonathan Salem Baskin

Jonathan is a thought-leader on 21st century marketing and its relationship to business strategy and culture. He has been called “a merry iconoclast,” “lucid and cutting,” and “groundbreaking” and, since, 2003, has led Baskin Associates, Inc., a branding consultancy serving clients on four continents. He is the author of seven books (Tell The Truth was voted a must-read in 2012), has written a regular column on CMO leadership for Advertising Age since 2008, and is a regular contributor to Forbes.

His eighth book, “The End of Anonymity,” will be published in June, 2014.

Previously, he led marketing communications for Nissan, Limited Brands, and Blockbuster, and led the PR agency team on Apple’s introduction of the first iMac. He is also an active blogger, posting daily essays on the history of social behavior and technology at Histories of Social Media, and speaks at corporate and association events around the world. Jonathan is a Senior Fellow Emeritus at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

Jonathan earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Colby College.
